Teacher Studio Version 2.0 Status Update

    Comments

We promised to release Teacher Studio version 2.0 sometime this month, but due to a problem with REAL Software (the vendor that we chose for our core development tool), we have no choice but to push the release date to sometime in the 1st quarter of 2012. REAL Software is having difficulties bringing their product up to date with Apple's Cocoa framework, which is causing us to have unnecessary bugs in our software. We have been following REAL Software's progress closely and have also participated in their beta lists and we see a light at the end of the tunnel, but not until they release a stable version and not until we have the chance to compile and run some tests against the stable version they promised the 1st quarter of 2012.

We know how disappointed some of you may be to hear this news, but know that the wait will be well worth it. We have redesigned Teacher Studio from the ground up based on the lessons we learned in our version 1.x releases and we know you will enjoy the new version much better. We also made the lesson planner much more friendly and it is now front and center in the desktop view. We also took into account all of the reasonable requests we have received for version 1.x and integrated them into version 2.0 (mostly for our international users). We can't wait to be able to release this new version to you, and we are working hard to make this release well worth it.

On a related note, we have been getting quite a number of requests from our users for an iPad version or companion. We responded to a few, but for those that we have not reached, we will be creating an iPad companion for Teacher Studio after version 2.0 or Teacher Studio is released. We also originally had plans to create a web portal so users can share their data with students and parents, but that plan fell apart when we realized that REAL Software's tool is not yet ready for real-world use. We still have plans for a web portal, but it's just put on hold until we can come up with a solution that will work well for everyone.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
