iReminisce Now Support Snow Leopard

Lomation is pleased to announce that iReminisce now runs on Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.6+). iReminisce was originally designed exclusively to run on Lion (Mac OS X 10.7+), but we have received a large amount of requests to also make it available for Snow Leopard. Other than two minor cosmetic/graphical differences when running iReminisce on the different Mac OS X versions, the functionalities are identical. So what are the differences?

- Snow Leopard does not support our original popovers (ex: when moving entries to a different date). We implemented a drop-down "sheet" window instead.
- Snow Leopard has an unused "bar" at the bottom to accommodate the "drag handle" at the bottom left corner. Lion does not show the drag handle whereas Snow Leopard does. This bar is purely for consistency purposes and serves no value (yet).

Teacher Studio Version 2.0 Status Update

We promised to release Teacher Studio version 2.0 sometime this month, but due to a problem with REAL Software (the vendor that we chose for our core development tool), we have no choice but to push the release date to sometime in the 1st quarter of 2012. REAL Software is having difficulties bringing their product up to date with Apple's Cocoa framework, which is causing us to have unnecessary bugs in our software. We have been following REAL Software's progress closely and have also participated in their beta lists and we see a light at the end of the tunnel, but not until they release a stable version and not until we have the chance to compile and run some tests against the stable version they promised the 1st quarter of 2012.

We know how disappointed some of you may be to hear this news, but know that the wait will be well worth it. We have redesigned Teacher Studio from the ground up based on the lessons we learned in our version 1.x releases and we know you will enjoy the new version much better. We also made the lesson planner much more friendly and it is now front and center in the desktop view. We also took into account all of the reasonable requests we have received for version 1.x and integrated them into version 2.0 (mostly for our international users). We can't wait to be able to release this new version to you, and we are working hard to make this release well worth it.

On a related note, we have been getting quite a number of requests from our users for an iPad version or companion. We responded to a few, but for those that we have not reached, we will be creating an iPad companion for Teacher Studio after version 2.0 or Teacher Studio is released. We also originally had plans to create a web portal so users can share their data with students and parents, but that plan fell apart when we realized that REAL Software's tool is not yet ready for real-world use. We still have plans for a web portal, but it's just put on hold until we can come up with a solution that will work well for everyone.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

iReminisce Press Release

Lomation Announces iReminisce

Coon Rapids, MN Nov 15, 2011

Coon Rapids, Minnesota - Lomation is pleased to announce the general availability of iReminisce. iReminisce is a journal and diary application for individuals who demands simplicity, elegance and power. iReminisce lets users focus on their thoughts while still allowing attachments such as pictures, movies, music and documents with their entries and keeping them close to but away from the writing area.

Lomation Quotes:
"We have been looking for a software to 'journal' our development stages and the current solutions available for the Mac was just not enough," said Koua Lo, Lomation founder and CEO. "Simplicity, elegance and functionality were key requirements when iReminisce was still in its design phase."

"I work with 1st graders all day and they are very good at finding ways to make my days interesting," said Pa Houa Lee, Teacher, Lomation founder and Chief Architect. "I have been looking for ways to express and release my frustrations and stress from my job without being too much of a bother on my family -- and that was the reason for the big push to get iReminisce completed FAST. Now, I use it every day. I even found a way to use iReminisce as a 'creative' writing tool. I simply created a new category called 'Creative Writing' and add an entry to it when ever I feel like writing."

"I love the fact that I can attach files to my entries but yet not interrupt my though processes. This works great because the attachments are not embedded into the writing area, which is a major distraction. Instead, attachments are stored in its own area but at the same time, easily accessible. Oh, and the mood and rating systems, how clever!" - Singyi Lo, High School Student and iReminisce Beta Tester.

User Benefits:
With iReminisce, users will be able to keep good and focused journal/diary entries without having to fight with the graphical user interface. The entire software was designed to make writing entries easy. iReminisce even automatically save everything users do, including keystrokes, so users can continue to write and not be distracted. iReminisce includes the following features.

* Daily photo journaling so users will be able to see and playback how they look like at any given day in the past.

* Customizable color-coded categories gives users the ability to create their own categories.

* Mood system to let users "indicate" how they felt when they wrote the entry.

* "5 stars" rating system to help users organize the favorite (or least favorite) entries.

* Capability to enter entries to days that were missed (users can even enter entries into the future if they wish).

* Simple method to move entries to different dates.

* Drag and drop attachments to entries, includes a built-in viewer for all attachments, including movies and music.

* More...

Pricing and Availability:
iReminisce is available for $14.99 either from Lomation's online store or from the Mac App Store. Users are also encouraged to download a 30-day demo to see if iReminisce meets their needs before making their purchase(s). iReminisce requires Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or newer.

Welcome

With the completion of our tests, we have determined that the technology we had in mind for creating an online counterpart to Teacher Studio is not yet mature enough for real-world use. We have been evaluating REAL Software's software, Real Studio Web Edition (RSWE), and although it seems promising -- it is currently plagued by bugs, stability and browser incompatibility issues. As such, we are now back to the drawing board.

We had just finished rebuilding our website and it no longer uses RSWE for its backend. This should make our website much faster and more stable. We have also enabled the blog feature (the blog you are reading and using now) that came pre-installed on our server (Snow Leopard Sever) so we can better keep you up to date on what we are currently up to. We'd like to thank all those who participated in and for testing our beta website using the software mentioned above.
